Do You Celebrate Your Spiritual Birthday?

People love to have parties and celebrate. We celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, winning a game, getting a job promotion, and for countless other reasons. We like to have fun! And we should! Jesus wants us to enjoy life (Jn 10:10).

That’s why I am utterly amazed as to how many people do not celebrate the greatest day in their personal eternity! Nothing uplifts me more than contemplating that God saved me.

Now I believe we should remember our spiritual birth every day, but since I had a very dramatic conversion, April 21, 1985 is forever etched in my memory! How could I not commemorate it?

Do you celebrate your spiritual birthday?

~Perhaps you’ve never thought about it.
~Perhaps you don’t know the exact date when you pass from eternal damnation to eternal life.
~Perhaps you’re not sure that you are saved.

Why should you celebrate your spiritual birthday?

Because it…

♥ Was the greatest, most extravagant, and costly gift ever given to you!

♥ Honors God

♥ Increases your sense of gratitude to God. You and I should never take the redemption of our souls for granted!

♥ Increases intimacy with the Lover of your soul

♥ Increases your sense of eternal security and hope for a better day in this dark world

♥ Helps spread the Gospel if you take the opportunity to tell others about it. It’s a great way to open up a spiritual conversation with people.

So…

How should you celebrate your spiritual birthday?

It’s totally up to you, but here are several suggestions.

♥ Spend an extended time with God alone—reading His Word, praying, praising, singing, and journaling.
Celebrate with others if you want, but don’t skip this one-on-One party.

♥ Meditate on some of your special verses regarding salvation. Here are a few of mine: 2 Cor 5:17, Eph 2:12-13, Col 1:22.

♥ Ponder the events leading up to and surrounding your salvation. Think and write down as many details as you can remember. If needed, ask the Lord for help. (Note: this will also help you write your testimony so you can share the Gospel better.)

  • Who was involved?
  • Where were you?
  • How did God draw you?
  • What was going on in your life and heart?
  • When did it happen?

If you were very young and have since drifted, think back to when (if) you recommitted to the Lord and became serious about your relationship with Him.

If you don’t know the exact date, don’t worry. What matters is the fact that you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. Just pick a day to celebrate.

♥ Thank God for how He orchestrated all the events and drew you to Himself.

♥ Ponder the significance of what Christ did, the incalculable price He paid to redeem your soul, and His unfathomable love for you.

♥ Praise God for your spiritual growth. Recall any mile markers in your faith journey with Him

♥ Keep your focus on Christ throughout that special day

♥ Tell your loved ones and your church family. If possible, thank the person(s) instrumental in your salvation

My friend, do you have a spiritual birthday when you passed from death to life?

Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test? (2 Cor 13:5)

If you are NOT sure, please go here to make sure.

If you are born again, please consider having a celebration on your special day with Jesus. The angels, saints and the Lord Jesus rejoiced on the day you got save (Lk 15:7), and they want to be invited to your party this year and every year to come! My 39th birthday will be in a few days and I can’t wait!

Yet I will rejoice in the LORD! I will be joyful in the God of my salvation! (Hab 3:18 NLT)
