Years ago in one of my Bible studies, we were discussing how God works in our lives in miraculous ways to show He is real. One of the women in the class had taken this picture that very morning.

It really does look like an angel—without too much imagination. We were all very excited that God would choose to reveal Himself in this way.
Knowing that God is real is a big deal to me. You see, I used to be an atheist. So whenever I see God working in my life or in others, I get excited!
Our God loves to reveal Himself. He wants us to know not only that He exists, but that He desires a close, intimate relationship with us. All He needs is an open heart that is seeking truth, and He will do the rest. That’s what happened to me 40 years ago.
How God Opened My Eyes
In 1984, I entered a business venture with some Christians. For a whole year, God pursued me, but I was hard-hearted and close-minded to anything about Him. That was because I had been raised in a mainline Christian religion where all I saw was hypocrisy. Then one day, while driving to work, I prayed, “God, if You really do exist, I want to believe in You. Please show me.”
And He did, but not with any outward miracle at that moment. A short time later (maybe two or three weeks, I don’t know), I heard the truth of the gospel and realized Jesus was what I had been looking for all my life. My heart was finally opened, and God opened my eyes to His truth. I love that line in Amazing Grace: “I once was blind, but now I see,” because that describes me!
Open your eyes, dear friends. He is real. And more than that—He loves you. He loved you enough to send His Son to die on the cross for your sins.
He may or may not do something spectacular or show you an angel in the clouds. But He is there. He is here — all around you, and even in you if you have accepted Jesus as your Savior. Simply open your eyes to see:
• His beauty in a flower
• His majesty in the mountains
• His infinitude in the countless stars and grains of sand
• His power in a tornado
• His consistency in the waves
• His greatness and immensity in the universe
• His attention to detail in the tiniest cell
• His control as He holds the universe together
Open your eyes to see Him:
• Provide for your family when you’re out of a job
• Sustain you as a widow
• Give you joy and peace in the midst of pain and turmoil
• Guide you through the unknown
• Patiently extend mercy and grace for repeated offenses
• Love and care for you in countless ways
We have a living God who is real and active in our lives. I hope and pray you will see Him like I do. And who knows—maybe you’ll see something like an angel in the sky one morning to remind you He is real.
“You will seek me and find me, when you shall search for me with all your heart. And I will be found by you,” declares the LORD
(Jer 29:13–14).
My friend, as you can tell, I am excited about this topic. That’s why I wrote my latest book, Seeing God Everywhere: Living in the Conscious Awareness of a Mighty God, now available on Amazon in Kindle and paperback. I can’t wait for you to read it!
