Do you believe that God protects us?
Sometimes it seems like He doesn’t because you find yourself in a crazy predicament that He could have prevented, but didn’t!
In this and next week’s posts I want to share 2 incidents that proves God does protect His children—an old one and a new one.
Here’s the one that happened in June of 2017.
I was returning from a walk on a beautiful sunny day, when I tripped on a step. Suddenly I found myself tumbling through the air; heading face first to hit the sidewalk—and there was NOTHING I could do about it!

God could have prevented it, but He didn’t. He protected me instead!
Why?
Because He cares for me, His daughter. And He has plans for me—including using this incident to proclaim His Name and tell of His protection and provision. You see—I just have to tell what God did for me. It could have been so much worse. I shudder just thinking about it!
Instead of paralysis, broken bones, sprained muscles, concussion, or even blindness, I came away with just a gash above my right eye and some abrasions. True, I needed 9 stitches for my wound, but I say I was miraculously protected by my Father in heaven.
During the entire incident, I had a sense of His peace, presence and protection. It was like He cushioned my fall with His love.
God demonstrated His protection of me in so many ways!
He provided:
• Immediate assistance
Within 60 seconds of hitting the pavement a man was at my side, applying pressure to my head injury to stop excessive bleeding, calling my nearby friend, asking me questions to see how I was doing, etc.
• A ride to the urgent care facility
Gratefully not the ER!
• A place to spend the night in case I had a concussion with a friend who had medical knowledge
• Calls and prayers from friends, family, and church for extra comfort
That night as I lay in bed, I was overwhelmed with gratitude; feeling incredibly blessed and cherished by my Abba Father.
There are countless times in Scripture where God intervenes and protects His own. But those are other people’s experiences.
You and I need our own deliverance to experience God’s saving grace; to know for ourselves that He will come through for us, His child.
This incident proved to me—one more time—that God loves me and will always protect me.
My eye and face were pretty ugly for a while after the fall. But in my Father’s eyes, I never stopped being beautiful in His sight. That’s because He’s looking at me through His most precious beautiful Son, Jesus.
“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.”
(Ps 91:14)
My friend, when it appears that your Father didn’t protect you, it’s because He’s orchestrating something better—something that will make you more beautiful still! He’s teaching you something about His character or ways. He’s using it for an eternal good (Rom 8:28). He’s making you to be more like His Son (Rom 8:29). And He’s giving you an opportunity to proclaim His Name.
Focus on these verses below so that you too can know within your heart that God will protect you!
But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you. (Ps 5:11)
May integrity and honesty protect me, for I put my hope in you. (Ps 25:21 NLT)
For he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones. (Pr 2:8)
