It’s hard to believe that He’s So Worth It Ministries has been in existence now for over 10 years. It has been an incredible journey filled with many joyous yet difficult times.
Many people have asked how I came up with the name for my ministry. And that’s a very interesting story!
Long before I wrote my first book, Our Knowable God, I would often say while teaching or discipling, that knowing God and living for Him is hard and takes a lot of effort, but that He is SO worth it!
I remember saying one time in class that if God would ever lead me to start a ministry that is what I would call it. Little did I know that God would indeed lead me to do so!
But I must clarify something here in regards to the name of my ministry…
God is not only worth it but worthy!
God is worth all the effort to:
- Get to know Him
- Do things His way
- Obey Him in every command, including forgiving and loving our enemies
- Surrender our wills
- Serve Him
- Persevere during the hard times
- Love Him with ALL our heart, soul, mind, and strength
- etc.
There will be great rewards, not only in heaven, but in the here and now. Jesus promised us not only eternal life, but a rich and full life here on earth (Jn 10:10). However, I want to make sure you do not misunderstand me.
God is worthy of all these things listed above even if there were no rewards!
“Who among the gods is like you, O LORD? Who is like you—majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders?” (Ex 15:11)
“You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.” (Rev 4:11)
Ascribe to the Lord, you heavenly beings, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness. (Ps 29:1-2, emphasis added)
The last thing I want is for you or anyone to think that this ministry is centered only in helping people get what they want! I pray to God with all my heart, that that is not the impression I have made.
He must increase while you and I must decrease (Jn 3:30). We need to have a holy reverent respect of God. We need to remember our position.
He is the Creator. We are His creation. We are here for His pleasure and glory—not our own.
That being said, attributing God His just due in no way minimizes our worth! God Himself says we are precious in His sight and means it (Is 43:4). He proved that we are valuable to Him when He died for us on the cross (Rom 5:8).
In fact, I have found that putting God first has enabled me to see myself the right way—from God’s perspective.
Have no doubt, we will get rewarded because God is loving, generous, kind, and good. But we must always remember to put God first above all. He is worthy of that.
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. (Mat 6:33)
So my friends, although this ministry has been very challenging at times, I have found that God has most certainly been worth overcoming every fear, enduring every heartache, and persevering through every discouraging moment in which I wanted to quit! But in light of all He’s done, how could I not respond, how could you not respond, with total devotion? He is not only worth it but worthy of it!
Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, singing:
“To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb
be praise and honor and glory and power,
for ever and ever!”
(Rev 5:13)
