The past few years have been heavy ones for many of us. Between ongoing cultural upheaval, personal losses, uncertainty, and weariness, it’s easy to ask: How do you keep going? How do you not give up?
I’ll tell you what keeps me going.
A conscious awareness that a loving all-powerful God is with me!
It’s having a sense of His presence—those unmistakable times when I experience His nearness in ways that cannot be explained away. I like calling them God Moments—touches of His presence.
Let me share with you a few of my God moments:
- When God comforted me during my greatest times of sorrow, inadequacy, and feelings of not being loved
- The time I sensed God’s pleasure in me after my husband, Ed, passed away because I chose to keep serving and obeying Him through the writing of my first book, Our Knowable God
- God’s provision when Ed lost his job (See My Egg Story)
- When He gave me the entire preface and introduction to my second book at 4 a.m. on July 4, 2012
- When Ed and I led his sister to the Lord around our kitchen table in 2008
- When I literally felt God’s cushioning hand protecting me in a car accident
- The time I hiked up Mount Cammerer in Tennessee and was astounded with His majesty and burst out into songs of praise
- When God made an impossible dream come true by allowing me to spend the night at the top of Mount LeConte
- The way God confirmed my new church home when I moved out of state
- The many times the Holy Spirit gave me understanding of His Word and brought me to my knees in awe
- The countless times in the wee hours of the night when He comforted my aching soul
- The many times when I simply knew I was His beloved daughter, resting in His care
I could list so many more. These are only a sampling. It does my heart good to go down memory lane with my Savior and recount His undeniable self-disclosures in my life.
Now, I’ll be honest. There are seasons when I don’t feel His presence. But my faith is not built on feelings; it is built on truth and on the proven faithfulness of God. Still, He knows we are emotional creatures. He made us that way—especially this one! We live in a tangible world, and in His kindness, He often gives us tangible reminders of Himself—if we will simply open our eyes and look.
He wants us to know He is real, faithful, and loves us beyond measure.
These moments I had were real and tangible morsels of God. My appetite has been stimulated; my stomach is gurgling, and my heart is fluttering in anticipation of heaven and the great feast awaiting me and you.
God’s revelations of Himself spur us on to persevere during hard times. They are foretastes of heaven.
They help us know it’ll be worth it—that He’ll be worth it!
One generation will commend your works to another;
they will tell of your mighty acts.
They will speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty,
and I will meditate on your wonderful works.
They will tell of the power of your awesome works,
and I will proclaim your great deeds.
They will celebrate your abundant goodness
and joyfully sing of your righteousness….
so that all men may know of your mighty acts
and the glorious splendor of your kingdom.
(Ps 145:4-7, 12 emphasis added)

These very truths are what shaped my new book, Seeing God Everywhere. In it, I share how we can grow in recognizing God’s fingerprints in everyday life—not just in the mountaintop moments, but in the ordinary, unseen places too.
The book is now available on Amazon in Kindle, paperback, and audiobook. My prayer is that it will help you see Him more clearly in your own daily walk.
He’s still revealing Himself.
He’s still near.
And He is still—always—worth it.
